Today, the company is one of Europe’s leading specialists in kitchen, bathroom, and laboratory ceramics.

The actual founding of systemceram GmbH & Co. KG dates back to the turn of the year 1999/2000. However, the history of the site dates back to 1928, when the former KCH Keramchemie began producing cast ceramics in Siershahn.

At the end of the 1990s, KCH withdrew from cast ceramics. The three long-standing department heads, Gerhard Göbel, Manfred Engel, and Peter Noll, subsequently took over the plant as part of a management buy-out. A corporate division became a family business, starting with 110 employees, an annual turnover of 12 million euros, and the “KeraDomo” kitchen ceramics and “KeraLab” laboratory ceramics product areas.

Over the following 25 years, systemceram grew through continuous investment and a clear strategic focus. This included the acquisition of the operating premises in 2005, the construction of a new production hall in 2011, and the commissioning of modern kiln and production technology in 2012.

On January 1, 2019, Kevin Göbel and Felix Engel took over the management of the company as managing partners. The founders, Gerhard Göbel and Manfred Engel, continue to support systemceram in an advisory capacity.

A key strategic step followed in 2023 with the expansion of laboratory ceramics activities after competitor Kyocera withdrew from the market. Through targeted investments, systemceram strengthened its portfolio and positioned itself as the global market leader for laboratory worktops and sinks made of chemical-technical stoneware.

The company also continued to develop in terms of infrastructure. In 2022, systemceram secured a 16,000-square-meter site in Wirges with existing hall space. In 2024, a new five-story administration and training building was occupied at the headquarters in Siershahn. With around 225 employees and an annual turnover of approximately 40 million euros, systemceram is now one of the largest employers in the Westerwald district.

On the product side, systemceram has repeatedly set important trends. The “Mera 90” sink series, introduced in 2007, remains the most successful product in the range to this day. In 2018, the offering was expanded to include its own bathroom ceramics line. The latest innovations include the “Juna” sink series in organic design from 2023 and the “Kentro” farmhouse sink from 2024, both developed with the Hans Winkler design studio. systemceram received the German Design Award 2025 for “Juna.”

In its anniversary year, systemceram stands for “Made in Germany” stoneware products, sustainability, and a close partnership with specialist retailers. This was also confirmed in the current 2024/2025 performance review by markt intern: there, systemceram was voted No. 1 in the “Kitchen Sinks/Accessories” category for the fifth time in a row and the sixth time overall.

Download Press Release

25 Years of systemceram – Stability in Times of Change With an open day in Siershahn and a staff party in Wirges, systemceram celebrated its 25th anniversary on June 14, 2025.
